Rasputin was a Siberian mystic who gained significant influence over the Russian imperial family in the early 20th century. He claimed to be able to heal the Tsar’s son Alexei, who suffered from hemophilia. His growing power created hatred and suspicion among the nobility and politicians. In 1916, he was murdered by a group of conspirators who considered him dangerous to Russia. Rasputin’s death became a symbol of the collapse of the Russian Empire shortly before the revolution.
