In 1977, the residents of Petrozavodsk, along with people across a vast region stretching more than 1,000 kilometers, were captivated by an extraordinary celestial event. A bright, glowing object, resembling an exploding star, projected beams toward the Earth and triggered both concern and fascination.

Witnesses described the object as a gigantic jellyfish, approximately 300 feet in diameter, with golden, beautifully colored tentacles. It was reported that many onlookers appeared ill for hours after the event, and some felt an "electric current" when the lights appeared. In addition, wherever these lights touched the ground or window ledges, they left rough holes.
