I have been to Malta and filmed temples such as Ġgantija and Ħaġar Qim, as well as the mysterious cart ruts that cut through the rock. The temples belong to a temple culture that predates the pyramids of Egypt and were built using stone blocks weighing several tons. The sites contain several rooms, clearly defined entrances, and details that suggest rituals took place there, although no one knows exactly what happened. The cart ruts are parallel tracks that run across large parts of the islands, cross one another, and sometimes lead out toward the coast. In this episode, we go through what is known, the theories that exist, and what still remains a major mystery.
