China's Pyramids – Many Still Unopened

China's pyramids are large burial mounds, mostly built for emperors and royal families.

China's pyramids are large burial mounds, mostly built for emperors and royal families. They are primarily located around Xi'an in Shaanxi Province. Many are made of compacted earth and have flat tops rather than pointed ones like the pyramids in Egypt. The most famous is the Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang, the same emperor associated with the Terracotta Army. Several of the pyramids are still partially unexcavated and protected.
